Summer is almost here, and that means it’s time to pull out your bikinis and get ready to hit the beach. I like to think that everyday is a fashion show, and the beach should be no exception. Enter, beach cover-ups! We’ve rounded up some of our favorite options to cover up this summer. From day to night, from the beach to the bar… we’ve got you!
A graphic tee or band tee is probably the easiest way to cover up this summer. T-Shirts are the perfect item to wear because you probably have 100 of them in your closet already. A cool tee also adds a really edgy element to any swim look. Tee’s are really comfortable and can be easily transitioned from the beach to the bar just by throwing your fav bottoms into your beach bag for later.
Nothing says summer like a colourful kimono and a kimono conveniently makes a great beach coverup! A kimono covers enough of your body to not have you feeling like you’re walking around the pool/beach super exposed, but it shows enough of your body to keep it sexy, and enough of your swim suit to perfectly compliment it. Kimono’s are lightweight and will keep you cool even though you’re covered up!
A matching set is the ideal cover-up for day parties at the beach or the pool. You can show up to the party looking totally put together and simply take it all off when you’re ready to get wet! I always love a matching set because you can make at least 3 outfits out of 1 purchase.
There’s nothing more feminine looking than a beautiful lace fabric and a lace bikini cover-up is a gorgeous addition to any beachy look. The lace provides and ideal combination of coverage while still allowing your body and bikini to shine through.
You haven’t been working on those abs all winter for nothing, show them off by pairing your bikini with just a maxi skirt! Maxi skirts are so versatile- you can pull it up and wear it as a dress, you can spread it out and sit on it, or you can completely wrap them around your whole body like a blanket in case your beach day turns into a bonfire night!
Rompers are a staple piece in any summer wardrobe. I wear a romper 4 out of 7 days a week in the summer. Rompers can be dressed up for a night on the town, or they can be dressed down to look effortless at the beach. Rompers are a total transitional piece. They’re especially fabulous because you don’t have to put any effort at all into putting together an entire outfit, which saves time that you could be soaking in the sun by the pool (don’t forget your SPF!)
Knit is another staple in any summer wardrobe. There are few fabrics that just scream ‘beachy’ and knit is definitely one of them. Because the fabric is so heavy, I like to stick with a neutral colour palette like black, white, grey, and beige to keep the look light and summery.
Bonus: Matching Bomber
The coolest cover-up from this entire round-up is this one. The beachwear company BeachRiot actually created bomber jackets to match their bikinis for their Summer 2017 collection! The bomber jacket and bikini combo is perfect for an afternoon-turned-evening outing. This entire look is too Instagram-able to pass up.
