What do Miami fashion bloggers know about dressing for fall? A lot more than you would think! Miami does not experience true seasons, but what the city lacks in chilly weather, its fashionable set makes up for in standout style. Now that fall is here, we could use some of their enviable style know-how to help us get dressed. We asked four of Miami’s top fashion bloggers to share their fall style tips.
1. Annie Vazquez of The Fashion Poet
Annie Vazquez is best known in Miami as a pioneer of the local fashion blogging movement. In her bog, the self-proclaimed Fashion Poet combines her love for poetry, fashion and Miami for sartorial features that showcase both Miami’s off-the-beaten path spots and her unique personal style. While Vazquez recently begun splitting her time between Miami and Brooklyn, her blog continues to celebrate Miami’s cultural diversity, particularly the Cuban traditions which are a part of her heritage.
Vazquez’s signature look seamlessly blends vintage and local designer finds. Her secret to dressing for fall is starting with a good pair of high-waisted jeans in a dark wash. “High-waisted jeans are my BFF this season,” says Vazquez. “They are great tummy tuckers and with a dark wash, you can slenderize your figure.”
2. Brittany Michèle Lynch of Bisous Brittany
Brittany Michèle Lynch loves fashion, travel, décor, cuisine and everything in between, so she started a blog to celebrate her passions. In her fashion posts, Lynch teaches us how to dress to impress by chronicling classic outfits she puts together primarily using basics in neutral colors. Most of her looks are office-appropriate, so she is our go-to on mornings when we are having trouble getting dressed for work.
On her fall style secret Lynch shares, “This fall season I am all about outerwear. I am loving vests at the moment and have been featuring them on my blog a lot lately. They are the perfect item to complete any fall look because they add a chic element to all of my outfits.”
3. Ria Michelle of Ria Michelle
Ria Michelle is another long-time fixture of the Miami fashion scene. The Trinidadian blogger and influencer has made a name for herself thanks to her edgy personal style that allows her to stand out amid the city’s nearly three million residents. Similarly, she has differentiated herself on Twitter where she keeps thousands entertained with her sassy commentary about her life and her tips on how to #LiveLikeRia. Through her blog and social media channels, Michelle has become an ambassador of the Miami lifestyle locally and abroad.
“My fall style secret is incorporating elements of the season’s trends for my climate rather than trying to force winter wear in 80-degree weather,” says Michelle. “By using the season’s it colors, textures and accessories, I still feel a necessary shift and refresh in my wardrobe without trying too hard and being uncomfortable.”
4. Lauren Ashley Patao of The Fashionista’s Diary
Lauren Ashley Patao has skyrocketed to fashion blogging success in two short years by documenting daily outfit inspiration. Her looks are comprised of high-end basics in mostly neutrals and pastels, with a brighter palette during the more colorful spring and summer seasons. What we love about Patao (aside from her highly-covetable rotation of Prada, Louis Vuitton and YSL handbags) is that, through her Instagram, she alerts us when her favorite pieces go on sale, so we can score her style without breaking the bank.
“My fall style secret is a great pair of over-the-knee boots,” says Patao. “They can instantly transform any outfit and can take you from day to night. Wear them over leggings, with jeans or even with a shift dress. They add that ‘wow’ factor without you having to try too hard.”
