Gender Equality in the Workplace

Equal opportunity is back in the headlines as we recently celebrated the 95th anniversary of women’s right to vote in the United States. This August marks almost a century since camisoles have replaced corsets and women’s voices have been counted at the polls. And yet, despite all the strides women have made in American culture, including in the workplace, equal pay for women remains elusive.

This sobering infographic illustrates how equal opportunities don’t necessarily translate to equal pay for women. Across fields like business, math, science and education, women continue making less money. Take a look at how much women working full-time, year-round in the United States make compared to men.

In 1951, women made about 64 cents for every dollar earned by men.

Today’s women are earning 78 cents for every dollar earned by men.

As you can see, women may enjoy equal rights in almost every aspect of American life, yet progress on income has been excruciatingly slow for the past 50 years. Keep the conversation alive by sharing this infographic with all your followers and friends.
