Festival Fashion For Every Budget

Festival season is upon us! Whether you’re ballin’ on a budget or you have some extra cash to spend, we’ve rounded up five different save or splurge looks based around five 2018 festival trends: fringe, mesh, denim on denim, monochromatic, and wearable lingerie. Check out some of our favorite festival fashion this year.

Fringe

Fringe is a fashion trend that was popular a few years ago and is just now coming back around. If you’re feeling super committed to this festival fashion trend, go all out with a fringe top. If you’re a little less bold, go for a fringe purse or fringe shoes, so you can play around with the trend before making it the primary focus of your outfit. Because fringe can be such a bold trend, I like to pair it with casual accessories like aviators, motorcycle boots, and simple crossbody bags.

Fishnet and Mesh

There are all sorts of risqué fashion trends to participate in at festivals this season, fishnet/mesh being one of my favorites because it feels like you’re covered up without actually being covered up (if you know what I’m saying). In the Save outfit option, I included a mesh bodysuit a little more on the revealing side, and for the Splurge look, I went for something more modest to show both options for the trend.

Denim on Denim

Denim on denim has been around since Justin and Britney (ugh, weren’t those the days?), and it doesn’t look like the trend is coming to an end any time soon. The key to wearing denim on denim is obviously to match your denims — if you’re wearing a three-piece outfit like the ones I’ve styled, I like to have at least two pieces matching. Example: the top and bottoms match, and the outerwear can be darker or lighter denim. The great thing is a lot of major retailers use the same color dyes for their denims, so you’re likely to find several pieces that work together.  Again, with a bold trend, keep the accessories simple. I love white and denim (as you can see).

Monochromatic

Monochromatic looks have been made popular by the likes of Rihanna, Bella and Gigi Hadid, and Kim Kardashian, and now you can recreate this festival fashion look with any budget using our outfit idea templates for festival season. This look could be duplicated with any color you choose, so get creative and rock what you love!

Lingerie

Wearable lingerie has been one of my favorite fashion trends for a while now. While it may seem crazy to wear bustiers and lace bodysuits out, wearing the trend isn’t actually as daunting as it seems. As long as you pair the lingerie with a trend that contrasts (baggy denim, loose cargo pants, etc.), the outfit looks ready for the street (rather than the bedroom) — perfect for festival fashion!

Top Ways to Wear Glitter This Summer

Glitter isn’t just for the girly-girls anymore and the trend is definitely not limited to prom dresses. We’ve seen glitter and sequins in different fashion forms on many of our favorite celebs like Kate Hudson, Blake Lively, Miley Cyrus, and Kate Moss. There are now a million ways to incorporate a little (or a lot of) glitter into your world. From casual clothing, formal dresses, sneakers and heels, to beauty products, glamming up your look with glitter has never been easier.

Glitter Clothing

Despite what you’d think, glitter and sequins are actually super versatile. The best part about the trend is that you can dress it up or dress it down and you can choose pieces with a little glitter or a lot of glitter depending on your comfort level (and the occasion). I love styling glitter in an unexpected way, last week I wore a sequin adorned jersey. It was the perfect combination of masculine and feminine and I received so many compliments on the look. Another prized possession of mine is my black sequin sweatpants- they’re comfy on the inside and bold on the outside. I’m also a huge fan of glitter mini-dresses and skirts styled with band tee’s.

Glitter Boobs (& Body)

Glitter boobs, also known as disco t!ts are the latest trend is the fashion and beauty industry. While the look was developed for music festivals and isn’t necessarily wearable for everyday activities, there is the body glitter alternative that’s been around forever! My favorite way to wear glitter on my body is with the Loving Tan Bronze Shimmer Luminous Cream; I love this one for everyday wear because it bronzes my skin while adding the perfect amount of subtle golden glitter.

Glitter Accessories

Think of accessorizing with glitter items as an intro course in college, it’s only the beginning! You may be more comfortable accessorizing with glitter and sequins to start, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll become addicted! Pick up a glitter belt, clutch, phone case, and jewelry and start incorporating them into your everyday looks.

Glitter Hair

Glitter hair is another trend that stemmed from the festival scene that we just can’t get enough of. You can even tie this trend in to bridal and prom looks beautifully! My favorite way to rock glitter hair is to style it into a center or side part and cover the roots in glitter. The best part about glitter roots is that you can extend the life of your dye-job before you have to get your roots touched up.

Glitter Makeup

Pat McGrath recently took the glitter makeup trend to the next level by introducing her Glitter Lipkits, which she has since expanded into a full glitter makeup collection! Celebs like Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell, and Chrissy Teigen have all been spotted in her glitter makeup looks. If glitter lips aren’t your thing, opt for subtle shimmer eyeshadow or a glitter highlight instead.

Glitter Shoes

There’s no place like home, and there’s nothing quite like a glitter shoe. (See what I did there?) Right now I’m obsessing over glitter booties as well as glitter heels for more formal events. Glitter sneakers are another cool way to contrast opposite trends- sporty and girly at the same time.

Coachella 2017’s Best Dressed Celebs

This year, Coachella fashion was a little bit different than years past. A lot of our favorite starlets like Jamie Chung, Olivia Culpo, and Nicole Richie (to name a few) who are known for their killer sense of style opted for more casual and comfortable looks; there was a whole lot of denim and plain tees/tanks this year! But there were a few celebrities who are loyal Coachella go-ers that never fail us in the covetable fashion department. Here are a few of our fav fashion looks from Coachella this year!

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens is the queen of Coachella and if you don’t believeme, I’ll present you with myPinterest board full of fashion evidence supporting my case. This year, Vanessa rocked a gold metal-adorned mirrored tank top by WE KOKO, Derek Lam army green shorts, a Chanel backpack, camel Via Spiga booties, and sunglasses by Smoke x Mirrors. Vanessa accessorized with some face gems, a choker, and a classic black belt. Hudgens opted for a half up hair style, a dark berry lip, and metallic nails. The metallic top took this outfit to the next level and I’m obsessed with the adornment of face jewels. Coachella was the perfect place to rock both of those key outfit elements!

Rihanna

While Vanessa Hudgens may be the queen of Coachella, Rihanna is the queen of everything, especially fashion, music, and pop culture. So, it’s only fitting that she absolutely slayed Coachella, the place where fashion and music collide. My favorite outfit of hers was for the Kendrick Lamar show where she wore a denim-on-denim look. Rihanna sported a Matthew Adams Dolan denim set and white Maison Margiela thigh high boots. To accessorize, Rihanna chose a blinged-out dust mask- which is VERY practical – I didn’t bring one to the festival last year and woke up the morning of Day 2 and my lungs actually hurt. When Rihanna took the mask off, we were surprised with metallic blue lipstick. She also added a chunky ring, layered necklaces, and a cross-body bag to the ensemble. I love that Rihanna chose a classic staple like denim, but really spiced it up to create something new and exciting (I’m also a huge advocate of thigh high boots).

Josephine Skriver

Victoria’s Secret Angel Josephine Skriver absolutely killed the fashion game this year! So much so that I wasn’t sure which outfit I was going to highlight. It’s no secret that Victoria’s Secret has the best branding in the game, but what I thought was really cool is that this year, the angels incorporated their VS lingerie into their outfits for the festival (Victoria’s Secret even had an Angel Oasis venue). Josephine sported a monochromatic soft teal look that included a halter lace bra, a fringe belt, white shorts, Timberland boots and even blue aviators! Josephine’s hair was styled in a half-up bun and she accessorized with several rings, a chunky watch, and a body chain. My favorite thing about this entire look was the way the lingerie was incorporated into the look in such a fashionable and unique way!

Chanel Iman

While we’re on the topic of Victoria’s Secret, I have to address Chanel Iman’s Coachella style… the girl KILLED it this year! I think the best part of her whole weekend ensemble was her new hair-do. Chanel rocked RAINBOW BRAIDS- so bold and so cool! She paired her new hair with a gold metallic crop top (to go with the metallic trend this year), a long crochet vest, and ripped denim shorts. Chanel accessorized with oversized hoop earrings, aviator sunglasses, and some layered necklaces.

Hailey Baldwin

Another monochromatic look was spotted at Coachella. but this time the color was army green. Hailey Baldwin paired high-waisted army green ripped pants with the same color elastic bralette and a gold chain overlay. For accessories, Hailey wore chunky gold hoop earrings, simple rings, a layered chain choker, and a long gold necklace. For wrist jewelry, Baldwin went with a chunky gold watch and adorned several festival passes. Hailey kept her makeup really simple and bronzed, but her center part, slicked back braided bun hairstyle was next-level cool!

Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld took the fishnet trend to new heights during weekend 1 of Coachella. Hailee rocked a long-sleeve fishnet bodysuit and wore an athletic looking bra underneath it. Hailee wore light denim shorts with a frilly waistband detail; she belted the shorts by tying a black string around them. Black thigh high boots and round brown   really rounded out the look (no pun intended). Steinfeld wore her hair in casual beach waves and had the most beautiful baby pink pout.
